The School District of Somerset will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 23, 2026, due to the dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills forecasted for our region.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for our area. According to the NWS, wind chill values are expected to reach between -30°F and -40°F.
At these levels, frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 10 to 15 minutes. Our primary concern is the safety of our students who walk to school or wait for buses. Spartan Kids Club will remain open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM for students who are already enrolled. Stay safe and stay warm.

🍪✏️ Personal Narrative Writing Never Tasted So Sweet! ✏️🍪
Mrs. Powell’s first graders put their taste buds and writing skills to work! 😋📚
After eating Oreos two different ways, our young authors used the experience to practice writing personal narratives—describing what they did, how it felt, and what made it special.
Learning is always better when it’s hands-on (and delicious)! We loved seeing our students turn a simple snack into a sweet story worth sharing. 💙📝✨#SomersetSpartanPride

Ms. Fuller’s 1st grade class is taking on a Shoe-Tying Challenge this December! 👟
Students are practicing hard to learn how to tie their shoes at home and with friends at school. If everyone masters the skill, the class gets to choose a special reward.
Way to go, first graders, for working together and building independence! #SomersetSpartanPride

A few members of the 2026 Somerset Softball Team stopped by the American Legion to thank Post 111 and Josh Svejcar for donating a brand new flagpole that was installed in November by the Heintz and Greeder family. Owen Grant, a Somerset senior and future Eagle Scout, completed all of the landscaping around the flagpole.
We are incredibly grateful for the support and generosity shown to Somerset Softball. Thank you for all you do! ❤️🥎 #SomersetSpartanPride
