Teacher knowledge is at the forefront of creating literate individuals, enhancing student success at school, as well as in society. Literacy encompasses reading (phoneme awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency), writing, speaking, and listening. Learning experiences become richer when literacy instruction in all content areas is rooted in scientifically and evidence-based practices.
