First grade students had a blast with some friendly competition while practicing this week’s phonics pattern! Students searched the room for hidden words, read them aloud, then raced back to their desks to write each word and draw a matching picture. On Tuesday, April 7, our 9th grade students visited University of Wisconsin–Stout and Northwood Technical College, exploring both a 4-year university and a 2-year technical college experience. While 10th graders completed state assessments, freshmen had the opportunity to learn more about postsecondary options as part of SHS’s Academic and Career Planning (ACP) program. These experiences help students explore future pathways and begin thinking about life after graduation. #SomersetSpartanPride

The Somerset Track & Field team wrapped up their indoor season Friday at UW–River Falls, competing against seven other teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin. The girls team placed third overall, while the boys team finished second. Second graders had a fun and fabulous start to April! 🐰 The Easter bunnies were hopping around outside, the Jesters shared plenty of jokes with our kindergarten and Deerfield friends, and we even enjoyed some “brown-e’s” for snack. 😄 #SomersetSpartanPride

Mrs. Andersen’s class recently hosted a Spartan Market for Mrs. Olson’s kindergarten class! 🛍️ The second graders have been learning about needs and wants, goods and services, supply and demand, and spending and saving. To put their learning into action, the students created products to sell to their kindergarten friends during the market. It was a fun, hands-on way for students to practice real-world economics while sharing their hard work with younger Spartans! #SomersetSpartanPride

Seventh grade Physical Science students got creative by building atoms out of Fruit Loops! ⚛️🥣 They made the first 10 elements on the periodic table and counted the protons, neutrons, and electrons in each! 🔬 #SomersetSpartanPride

During Missoula Children’s Theatre’s week-long residency, students participate in three workshops along with learning the musical that will be performed at the end of the week! 🤩 Miss Chloe and Miss Katherine led the 6th grade band and choir students in an acting workshop called “All the World’s a Stage!” where students explored skills used to bring characters to life on stage. #SomersetSpartanPride
