Our Second Grade Scientists tested whether radish seeds could grow without light…and the answer was YES! 🌱
Although the seedlings weren’t as dark green and healthy-looking, they still grew. A fun hands-on science experiment for our young scientists! 👏 #SomersetSpartanPride

Mrs. Andersen’s 2nd graders are putting their teamwork skills to work as they solve word problems with numbers within 1,000. 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
Each student works through the problem, then they come together to check and support one another’s thinking. Teamwork really does make the dream work! 👍 #SomersetSpartanPride

First grade students had a blast with some friendly competition while practicing this week’s phonics pattern!
Students searched the room for hidden words, read them aloud, then raced back to their desks to write each word and draw a matching picture.
The excitement didn’t stop there… one special word was even hidden on the teacher’s back! 😄 #SomersetSpartanPride

🎉 Congratulations to our very own SHS math teacher, Emily Amundson!
This past Friday, Emily was honored with the Outstanding Early Educator Award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the Mathematical Association of America. This recognition highlights her dedication, passion, and impact in the classroom.

On Tuesday, April 7, our 9th grade students visited University of Wisconsin–Stout and Northwood Technical College, exploring both a 4-year university and a 2-year technical college experience.
While 10th graders completed state assessments, freshmen had the opportunity to learn more about postsecondary options as part of SHS’s Academic and Career Planning (ACP) program. These experiences help students explore future pathways and begin thinking about life after graduation. #SomersetSpartanPride

Learning through food exploration!
Students used cooking tools and explored different colors, smells, textures, and dip while building communication and fine motor skills. 🥒🥕🍎 #SomersetSpartanPride

Second graders had a fun and fabulous start to April! 🐰
The Easter bunnies were hopping around outside, the Jesters shared plenty of jokes with our kindergarten and Deerfield friends, and we even enjoyed some “brown-e’s” for snack. 😄 #SomersetSpartanPride

Mrs. Andersen’s class recently hosted a Spartan Market for Mrs. Olson’s kindergarten class! 🛍️
The second graders have been learning about needs and wants, goods and services, supply and demand, and spending and saving. To put their learning into action, the students created products to sell to their kindergarten friends during the market.
It was a fun, hands-on way for students to practice real-world economics while sharing their hard work with younger Spartans! #SomersetSpartanPride
