Syllabus and Expectations for Pre-Algebra
Welcome to Pre-Algebra. In this class we will be learning new concepts and expanding on old ones while preparing you for Algebra I.
Grading Scale:
90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
60-69% D
Homework:
Assignments will be graded on a 10 point scale.
10 pts. Neat, organized and completed with 90% accuracy.
8 pts. Neat, organized and completed with 80% accuracy.
5 pts. Neat, organized and completed with 50% accuracy.
0 pts. Messy, unorganized or incomplete.
*Late assignments can be made up for a maximum of 5 points.
Grades:
Homework: 40% of your grade
Tests and Quizzes: 40% of your grade
Class Participation: 20% of your grade
Attendance/Tardiness:
You get 2 days to make-up an assignment, quiz or test for every EXCUSED absence.
Three tardies to class results in after school detention. (be on time and in your seat)
Quizzes and Tests
There will be random pop quizzes throughout the term. Tests will follow the completion of a chapter. There will be a final exam.
Rules:
Come to class prepared. (notebook, pencil, etc.)
Respect other classmates, teachers, support staff and yourself.
Keep the room clean
Raise your hand if you have a question or want to participate.
Leave food/drink outside of class.
Fire:
In case of a drill or real fire, we will calmly walk out of the classroom, take a right and continue out the door to the parking lot.
Tornado:
Sit along the perimeter of the room with your back against the wall.
I have read and will follow the expectations for Mr. Hoff’s Pre-Algebra class.
