Special Education CD/Autism Instructor Email Phone: (715) 247-4848, Ext. 737 I am an elementary special education teacher in the Somerset School District. I started in Somerset in the 2002-2003 school year. I have a comprehensive degree in Intellectual Disabilities (ID) special education pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and Elementary/Middle Education grades 1-8 from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. I currently teach special education grades K-4 in Somerset. I have completed my masters in education through Hamline University. I have taken an extensive amount of classes and workshops revolving around children on the Autism Spectrum. In 2008 and 2009 I was apart of a state Autism Project that was led by the National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders (NPDC) on a national level. We were one of 6 districts in the state of WI chosen to participate. Wisconsin was one of only 3 states chosen nationally that year. It was an honor to be a leader in this project to further our ability to meet the needs of our students and families. I was also a faculty member of our parent group for students with disabilities. For 5 years I was able to co-teach in 2nd grade for Math helping to expand my knowledge of classroom skills, expectations, and curriculum. It is my goal to meet my students' needs and help them be the most successful both socially and academically. I enjoy working with all children and focusing on keeping them successful and giving them a positive self-image. I also enjoy getting to know the families and being a part of a support system for the children and their families. Some of my hobbies outside of school and education include fishing, camping, four-wheeling, music, and spending time with my family.
