Both schools and parents have an equal responsibility to address substance abuse and reduce risk behaviors. Now more than ever children and families are faced with tough decisions about drug use and safe coping strategies. School based AODA programming, services, and interventions are designed to help students avoid or minimize future problems related to alcohol and other drug use, build resistance skills related to risk behaviors, and provide prevention opportunities and drug education to families in the Somerset community.
District wide AODA intervention programs are designed to help students who are already experiencing drug related problems as well as provide supportive services to students who are experiencing drug related trauma in their home. AODA services are offered using a three tiered approach with the most at-risk and drug endangered students receiving individual and more intense interventions.
District wide AODA prevention programming utilizes evidence based interventions and drug education curriculum at all developmental levels. School wide AODA programming also partners with community and county resources to provide drug education and referral services to all Somerset students and their families.
