Americanism & Government Scholarship National 4/13/2018 $250-$20000

The Americanism and Government scholarship program fosters interest in all levels of government, citizenship and provides students the opportunity to receive recognition and scholarships.  Students are tested on their knowledge of U.S. Government, Wisconsin Government, County Government, the Constitution and flag etiquette. The test is comprised of 50 true/false and multiple choice questions, plus one essay question.  Students are required to answer the essay question to qualify for the associated scholarships.

This is not an open book test and students are not allowed to use outside resources to take this test.

Annually, 45 winners are selected by the Americanism Committee of The American Legion, Department of Wisconsin.  The following scholarships are awarded:

16 students in Grade 10 receive $250 scholarships

16 students in Grade 11 receive $250 scholarships

13 students in Grade 12 receive $500 scholarships

Other Information:

The test is available on-line between April 2 – April 13, 2018.  It is recommended the test be taken in the classroom, however if classroom time is not available, the test can be taken anywhere internet access is available!  Students register on-line immediately prior to beginning the test. This only takes a minute so it won’t interfere with the hour allotted for completing the questions and essay.

The test link is found at the website -

Any student in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in any public, private, parochial or home-schooled within the State of Wisconsin may participate.  Since the test questions are different every year, students may participate all 3 years and be eligible for the scholarships multiple years.
